Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from Chol HaMoed Pesach*, in which you convey your desire to study the Torah*, to follow its path, to put its mitzvos* into practice, but you face difficulties, and you ask me what I think.

I am surprised that you could have any doubt in this matter. Each one of us, within the entire people of Israel, is obligated to put into practice the Will of the Creator, Who gives the Torah and the mitzvos. When one truly desires it, one can therefore achieve it. And if one affirms this desire in a pleasant and peaceful manner, without entering into disputes, it is certain that those who are not fully pleased with it will eventually accept this conduct, since such is the Will of Hashem*, Who gives the Torah.

Hashem created man and He knows what is good for him. He gives the assurance, in the words of the verse: "If you walk in My statutes and keep My mitzvos... I will give your rains" — and all the blessings mentioned in this Parshah*. May Hashem grant you the success to convey good tidings of all of this.

במענה על מכתבו דחוהמ"פ, בו כותב אודות רצונו ללמוד תורה וללכת בדרכה ולקיים מצותי' ומוצא קישוים להביא רצונו זה לפועל, ושואל דעתי בזה.

ולפלא גם הספר בדבר, שהרי כל אחד מאתנו בתוך כלל ישראל מצווה לקיים רצון הבורא הוא נותן התורה והמצוה, וכאשר חפצים באמת אזי מצליחים לקיימו, וכשמסבירים הרצון בדרכי נועם ובדרכי שלום מבלי להכנס לריב בודאי שגם אלו שאין שבעים רצון מזה סו"ס יסכימו על הנהגה האמורה, שהרי זהו ציוויו של השי"ת נותן התורה אשר הוא ברא את האדם ויודע מה הוא טובת האדם ומבטיח לו בלשון הכתוב, אם בחקותי תלכו ואת מצותי תשמרו גו' ונתתי גשמיכם וגו' כל הברכות הכתובות בפרשה שם, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
