To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Mordechai (see note 1),
Greetings and blessings,
I received with pleasure your letter of 25/4, all the more so since I was already concerned by this long interruption — even though, from other sources, I receive news of you and of all the Chassidim. Nevertheless, it is clear that news obtained directly is not comparable to that which passes through an intermediary.
I read with satisfaction what you say about the upcoming dinner organized for the benefit of the Yeshiva Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch of Melbourne. You are preparing it in the proper manner, and to someone such as you, it is surely unnecessary to explain how important this is. Every action, every effort, every energy necessary is justified, since this is in the interest of the many. Hashem will therefore grant you blessing and success, for the merit of the public comes to your aid.
I have transmitted your request for documentation for the dinner (see note 2). If it is available, it will be sent to you. And without making a formal vow, when the time comes, I will send you my blessing for all those who prepare it and for those who will participate in it. May Hashem grant that always and every day, you be able to announce good tidings to me, including regarding what concerns you personally — your health, the manner in which you earn your livelihood, and the Jewish satisfaction that you derive, together with your wife, from all your children.
With my blessing to convey good tidings and, in the expression of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, to have a healthy summer,
