To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*
and devotes himself to communal needs,
Rav Meir (see note 1),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the anniversary of the birth of the Rebbe Maharash* (see note 2), whose merit shields us.

At a propitious moment, I will mention the name of this woman — may Hashem grant her long life — at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit shields us.

She is surely being followed by a specialist physician, and one must verify that the latest medications and the most recent treatments in this matter are being used — those that physicians prescribe with success in the United States. The physicians in your country surely know of them.

On this occasion, it would be good to have her husband's Tefillin* and the Mezuzos* of their home checked. She herself will give tzedakah* before lighting the candles on the eve of Shabbos* and the festivals.

Everything is an effect of Divine Providence*, and in this case, her husband asked you to write to me, although I am neither a physician nor the son of a physician. The purpose of this step is therefore assuredly that this man, by addressing himself to me, should draw closer to Chabad* Chassidus*. And if of all the principles of the Torah* it is said, "Great is study that leads to action," how much more so is this the case with Chassidus, which emphasizes that a synthesis of all things must be drawn. In this case, this means not only that he must intensify his study of Chassidus, but also that he must adopt its customs and practices even more firmly. You will surely find the appropriate words to explain all of this to him, and you will give me good tidings on this subject.

במענה על מכתבו [מ]יום הולדת כ"ק אדמו"ר מהר"ש זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

בעת רצון יזכירו את מרת... שתליט"א על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובטח נמצאת בטפול רופא מומחה, וצריך להתענין אם משתמשים בסממני רפואה ואופני טפול שנתחדשו בכגון דא בזמן האחרון ומצליחים בהם הרופאים בארצוה"ב, ובטח ידועות גם להרופאים שבמדינתם.

ומהנכון בהזדמנות זו שיבדקו את התפילין של הבעל שי' וכן את המזוזות בדירתם, ושזוגתו תפריש לצדקה קודם הדלקת הנרות בכל ערב שבת וערב יום טוב.

וכיון שכל דבר הוא בהשגחה פרטית, ובעלה של הנ"ל בקשו שיכתוב אלי, אף, שלא רופא ולא בן רופא אנכי, בודאי הכוונה בזה שיוסיף הנ"ל ע"י פניתו לכאן בעניני חסידות חב"ד, ואם על כל חוקי התורה נאמר גדול תלמוד שמביא לידי מעשה, מכש"כ בהנוגע לתורת החסידות שמדגישה את ההכרח של בכן מכל ענין שבה, שבנדון דידן, ז.א. לא לבד שיוסיף בשיעורי לימוד תורת החסידות אלא גם הוספה בהליכה בהדרכותי' ומנהגי'.

ובטח ימצא אותיות המתאימות להסביר את כל הנ"ל ויבשר טוב בכל האמור.
