I greet you and bless you.

I am responding to your letter of 4 Iyar.

At a propitious moment, I will mention your name, that of your wife, and all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, so that each may obtain the fulfillment of their needs, according to what you write.

Concerning your settling in, for the purpose of earning a livelihood, I have already said that one must do everything to work in the domain of Chabad*, for various reasons. With the appropriate effort and with the help that the Chassidim*, without a doubt, will give you, it is certain that you will succeed. Perhaps at the beginning of your settling in there will be some difficulties, but one must not be affected by them. And you know what the Baal Shem Tov* emphasizes (see Igros Kodesh*, Vol. 14, Letter 4874), as my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, recalled many times, regarding the verse: "Your beginning will be in hardship." He says that precisely through this: "Your end will be exceedingly great" (Iyov 8:7 — the conclusion of the same verse).

No doubt you still participate in activities of spreading the wellsprings* outward, particularly among those who come from the country in which you previously resided (presumably Russia). Here too, Hashem will grant you success.

בעת רצון יזכירוהו ואת זוגתו תחי' וכן את כל אלה שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, כאו"א להמצטרך לו, מתאים לתוכן כתבו.

ובהנוגע להסתדרותו בענין של פרנסה, כבר מלתי אמורה שצריך להשתדל ביותר וביותר שיהי' דוקא בעניני חב"ד מכמה טעמים, ובודאי שבהשתדלות המתאימה, ובטוחני שאנ"ש מצדם ישתדלו ג"כ בזה, סו"ס יבוא הדבר לפועל. ואף שאפשר שבתחלת ההסתדרות יהי' איזה קישוים אין להתרשם מזה וכידוע הדגשת הבעש"ט (ששמענוהו כ"פ מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע) בלשון הכתוב, והי' ראשיתך מצער - ועי"ז - ואחריתך ישגא מאד.

בודאי גם עתה משתתף בפעולות דהפצת המעינות חוצה, ובפרט בין אנשי מדינתו לפנים. והשי"ת יצליחו גם בזה.
