Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 23 Iyar, in which you convey the request of the young men of Montreal to reproduce, by stencil, the Chassidic discourse* from Torah Or* entitled "Eliyahu Pasach*" ("Eliyahu Opened"), with the commentaries of the Rebbe Rashab*. You ask me for authorization.

Now, I do not understand the meaning of this request. Do they already know all the printed books of Chassidus*, particularly those of recent years? Those texts also provide the clarifications found in the notes to this discourse. Is it really only this one that they are lacking?

Practically speaking, if the request comes from an entire group, and above all, if the reproduction is very precise and is reread multiple times so as to be as exact as possible, you may respond favorably to this request. But of course, as you write, this must not interfere with the Yeshiva* program, neither with the classes nor with the reviews.

I am surprised that you say nothing to me about your study, with ardor and constancy, which you are intensifying from time to time, in accordance with the directive that one must always ascend in matters of holiness (see Berachos* 28a). And you will influence your friends so that they too will study with all the necessary enthusiasm. No doubt you will tell me all about this at the next opportunity.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ג אייר, בו כותב בקשת האברכים דמאנטרעאל להעתיק את המאמר פתח אלי' אשר בתו"א עם ההגהות של כ"ק אדמו"ר (מוהרש"ב) נ"ע, על שטענציל, ומבקש רשות על זה.

והנה לכאורה אינה מובנת בקשתם של הנ"ל בענין זה, האומנם כבר בקיאים הם בספרי חסידות הנדפסים ובפרט אלו שנדפסו בשנים האחרונות, שבמאמרים אלו נתבארו ג"כ כמה מהענינים הנזכרים בהגהות לד"ה פתח אלי' הנ"ל, ורק הנ"ל חסר?

ובהנוגע לפועל, אם הנ"ל הוא בקשת רבים, והעיקר אשר תהי' ההעתקה מנוסח הדק היטב וגם ההעתקה יגיהו אותה כ"פ בכדי שתהי' מתוקנת ככל האפשרי יכול למלאות בקשה האמורה, ומובן ופשוט שכמו שכותב רק באופן שלא יפריע לו כלל מעניניו מתאים לסדרי הישיבה, הלימודים החזרה וכו'.

לפלא שאינו מזכיר מלימודו בהתמדה ושקידה ההוספה בזה מזמן לזמן כפי הציווי מעלין בקדש וההשפעה על כל חבריו שגם הם ישקדו בלימוד ככל הדרוש ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הבאה.
