Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter of 12 Sivan.
You ask me about the names of the groom and his father-in-law. Both have two given names, but they share one of these two names in common (note: see letter no. 5442).
You know the halachic* ruling of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya and the Shulchan Aruch, and that of his grandson, the Tzemach Tzedek*, according to which there is nothing to fear in such a case. Consult the Responsa of the Tzemach Tzedek, Even HaEzer, chapter 143, and the halachic rulings of the Tzemach Tzedek, Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh Deah, chapter 116.
You ask me the reason, since the wife would then call her husband by her father's name (note: which could be interpreted as a lack of respect to her father). Several books discuss this point, but the Rambam* specifies that this principle applies only to an uncommon name. On this subject, consult the Responsa Tzafnas Paane'ach of the Rogatchover Gaon*, chapter 128, volume 1, and the Otzar HaPoskim, volume 1, beginning at page 100.
With my blessing,
