To my close relative, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 12 Sivan, in which you briefly describe the Chassidic gathering (farbrengen*) (note: presumably organized on the occasion of a festival by the Chabad youth association of the city).

It is surely unnecessary to emphasize to you, as well as to all the other Chassidim, the imperative necessity of maintaining contact with those who participate in these gatherings, particularly those who, for the time being, do not participate in any other activity.

I note that it is unnecessary to emphasize this to you, because this is self-evident. Yet it seems that you have paid no attention to it until now. To my great sorrow, several unfortunate consequences have resulted from this negligence. Of course, these words are addressed to all the Chassidim who might engage in such activity. You therefore have the right and the merit to convey them.

May Hashem grant that there be a fundamental change in this matter, in the direction of good, and that very soon I receive good news of the positive consequences that will have been observed.

במענה על מכתבו מי"ב סיון, בו כותב ראשי פרקים מההתועדות.

ובודאי למותר לעוררו וכן את שאר אנ"ש על ההכרח הכי גדול לעמוד בקישור באופן מתאים עם הלוקחים חלק בהתועדות ובפרט אלו שלע"ע רואים אותם רק בהתועדות. ואף שכותב הנני שלמותר לעוררו הוא מפני פשיטות הדבר, אבל כנראה שעד עתה לא שמו לב לזה כלל וכלל ולצערי כנראה כמה דברים בלתי רצוים נגרמים ע"י הזנחה זו. מובן שדברי אלה מכוונים לכל אנ"ש השייכים להתעסק בהנ"ל, ומרשותו וגם מזכותו למסור להם דברי אלה. ויה"ר שיחול בזה שינוי עיקרי לטובה ובקרוב ממש אתבשר טוב מהתוצאות הכי רצויות בפועל.
