I am writing to you about the Lubavitch synagogue, and simultaneously, I am also writing to the distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav I. A. Levitanski (note: an identical letter was sent to Rabbis Yitzchak Aizik Levitanski and Shneur Zalman Hecht).
The situation of the Lubavitch synagogue of Chicago and the events it has undergone have prompted me to the firm resolution not only to maintain and perpetuate it, but also to strengthen it, to elevate it, to develop its accomplishments and its positive achievements.
Accordingly, it is important that those who are connected to this institution, to whom the idea of a Lubavitch synagogue is close and dear, take action in this matter. Of course, the leaders must consult one another about what should be done, in a pleasant and peaceful manner, with a single heart. They must seek the ways and means that will turn the situation around, and ensure its future functioning and development.
You two, together with the Rav, distinguished Chassid who fears Hashem, of good conduct, an alumnus of the Yeshiva*, Rav Shlomo Zalman Hecht Shlita, have had the merit of hearing, on various occasions, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, speak about what concerns Lubavitch in Chicago, both in general and in specific terms. You must therefore be the first to act in this matter. You must convince all the other members so that what has been described is carried out in the best way, with full cooperation in all domains.
It is absolutely certain that if one acts in harmony, with a firm resolution to work positively for this cause, one will receive from Hashem a blessing for tremendous success.
