To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* Chaim Shaul Zeev (note: Rav H.S.Z. Bachur of Johannesburg; see also letter no. 5392 — note: the French text references letter 5392 for addressee context),

I greet you and bless you,

You have surely received my response to your letter long ago. The present letter is connected to the journey to your country, at an auspicious time, of the Chassid* who devotes himself to communal needs, Rav* Yosef HaLevi Weinberg. I am convinced that you will do everything in your power to ensure the success of the mission entrusted to him (note: the fundraising campaign for the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch*). Nevertheless, our Sages say that one counsels eagerness precisely to those who naturally possess this quality. This is why I write to you, in order to formulate this request which, in the expression of the Alter Rebbe* (note: in Igeres HaKodesh*, chapter 7, page 112a), "has no purpose other than to emphasize its importance" — to give it even more weight.

Of course, I also allude to the influence you exert on your friends and acquaintances, so that all may do what is in their power for the success of this mission. Hashem* gives the Torah and He commands the mitzvos*. The students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* are educated to love Hashem* and to fear Him, particularly through the study of Chassidus*, which specifies how to give birth to these sentiments.

And Hashem* Himself defines the reward due to those who endeavor to strengthen and develop education. They obtain the satisfaction of their needs — health, prosperity, and true satisfaction, that is, a Jewish satisfaction from their children and grandchildren, to whom Hashem* will grant long life.
