I bless you and greet you,

I respond to your letter of this Sunday, in which you briefly describe what you have experienced. You also mention the school in which you are a student.

Your decision to follow the path of Torah* and mitzvos* is most judicious. Our Torah* is a Torah of life, and it is said of its mitzvos*: "One shall live by them." This statement applies not only in the World to Come*, but also implies happiness in this world. Indeed, only a life in conformity with the teachings of our Torah*, the Torah of life, enables a Jewish man or woman to find peace of mind, contentment and true happiness.

One may, in a passing way, imagine that such a result can be obtained without conforming to the prescriptions of the Torah*. But in practice, one can verify that a person, sooner or later, becomes aware of the bitter error committed in straying from the path of the Torah*. For, as I have said, it is an error also from the perspective of this world. Your lot is enviable, for you have very quickly become aware of this truth and you follow the path of the Torah*, including, of course, in concrete action. I hope that you will redouble your ardor in this matter, that you will advance from one level to the next, and experience happiness in all that concerns you.

I have good hope that you also influence your friends, to draw them closer to the Creator of the world, Who gives the Torah* and the mitzvos*. Hashem* will grant you success so that you may convey good news of this as well.

במענה על מכתבה מיום הראשון, בו כותבת ראשי פרקים מאשר עבר עלי', אודות מוסד החינוך בו לומדת וכו'.

נכונה במאד החלטתה ללכת בדרך התורה והמצוה אשר תורתנו תורת חיים היא, ובמצותי' נאמר, וחי בהם, שהכוונה בזה לא רק חיי העולם הבא אלא גם אושר בחיי העולם הזה, כי רק בחיים מתאימים להוראות תורתנו תורת חיים ימצאו איש ואשה הישראלים מנוחת הנפש סיפוק נפשי ואושר אמיתי, ואפילו אם למשך זמן קצר אפשר להדמות שיש למצוא את זה גם מבלי להשמע להוראת התורה, רואים במוחש אשר במוקדם או במאוחר עומד האדם על הטעות המרה שעשה בנטותו מדרך התורה וכאמור לעיל טעות אפילו מנקודת המבט של חיי העולם הזה. ואשרי חלקה אשר בעוד מועד עמדה על אמת זו, והולכת בדרך התורה, ובודאי גם במעשה. והתקוה אשר תוסיף אומץ בכל זה ותלך מחיל אל חיל, ומאושרה תהי' בעניני'...

תקותי שמשפיעה גם על החבירות שלה לקרבן עוד יותר לבורא עולם הוא נותן התורה והמצוה והשי"ת יצליחה לבשר טוב גם בזה.
