To the honorable and distinguished Mr. Eliezer Shalit,

Greetings and blessings,

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter of Thursday of Parshas Pinchas*, to which was attached your contribution, which has been transmitted to the special fund of the day of liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, designated for the institutions bearing the name of the one whose joy we celebrate — Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch* — which provide a proper education.

You write, in passing, that you are not from a Chabad* family, but that you consider yourself, nevertheless, close to Chabad*. Now, a distinction based on families has never been on the agenda, and is even less so at the present time. All Jews are brothers and must commit themselves fully to Torah* and mitzvos*. From this, one can conclude that a path integrating, step by step, all aspects of Judaism, on the basis of Torah* and Tradition, bringing them enthusiasm and luminosity through the inner dimension of Torah* that has been disseminated by Chabad* Chassidus* — lending it a rational formulation — must become the possession of all the families of Israel and of all Jews.

Indeed, each person must know elevation in Judaism, in faith and knowledge of Hashem, until we merit, very soon, the fulfillment of the Divine promise proclaimed by the prophet: "All shall know Me... The earth shall be filled with knowledge of Hashem."
