Greetings and blessings,

You write to me that everything drags on and on. Yet I alluded to this once again when I spoke with your father, right here. As you know, the Holy One, blessed be He, acts "measure for measure" (note: in the manner that one acts toward Him). When one delays in fulfilling the promise one has made regarding tzedakah* — despite the kindness of Hashem that one can observe in various domains, and when there is no logical reason to postpone the fulfillment of this promise, formulated in thought and also in speech — it is perfectly clear that in this way one causes the blessings of Hashem to "drag on" as well. And the darkness of exile is so intense that one does not even observe all of this with one's eyes of flesh, that one does not draw the lesson from it.

May Hashem grant that at least in the future, all promises be fully honored. Moreover, it would be good to increase them (note: to give a larger amount of tzedakah), in order to obtain increased blessing. And one shall make a firm resolution to maintain the same attitude thereafter, with the intention that it be concretely so. Then Hashem will act "measure for measure" and "His word shall run swiftly" — in a good and kindness that is visible and tangible.
