Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter, in which you tell me that the mezuzos* were checked (note: following letter no. 5338) and that they were found to be valid. If it is certain that this is indeed the case, they were perhaps not affixed in the proper location or at the necessary height according to halachah*. In any event, from the way you describe your grandmother's condition, something is not right concerning these mezuzos*.

As for the condition of her eyes, it is obvious that one must follow the instructions of a specialist physician in this area. You will therefore consult those who are on the spot regarding the courses of action to which you allude. In any event, there is no reason for concern, for "the Torah* has authorized the physician to heal." As for you personally, it would be good to redouble your vigor and ardor (note: in the study of Torah; the recipient of this letter is presumably a yeshivah student), since it is you who present this request to me. In this way, the blessings of Hashem will be multiplied in all your needs generally, which also includes the fulfillment of your request stated above.

במענה על מכתבו בו כותב שבדקו המזוזות ונמצאו כשרות - והנה אם ודאי הדבר, אז בטח לא נקבעו ע"פ דין במקום הראוי בגובה הראוי וכו', ובכ"א שיהי' משהו בהמזוזות לא כסדר ע"פ כתבו מצב הסבתא תחי'.

ומה שנוגע לבריאות עיני', מובן שיש לעשות כהוראת רופא מומחה במקצוע, ויתייעצו עם הנמצאים על אתר באיזה מהמקומות והאופנים אודותם כותב לעשות.

ובכל אופן אין לפחוד, שהרי התורה נתנה רשות לרופא לרפאות, ומהנכון שהוא מצדו יוסיף בהתמדה ושקידה, כיון שהוא הכותב והמביא בקשת הנ"ל, ויתוסף עי"ז בברכות השי"ת בעניניו בכלל שגם מילוי בקשתו האמורה כלולה בזה.
