Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 23 Menachem Av, in which you tell me that your day is not organized, that you are anxious, despairing, sad, and that you do not know how to return to Hashem.

Several sacred books answer this question, in particular the works and discourses of Chassidus* and especially the holy Tanya*, as the index at the end of this work shows. But like all other parts of the Torah*, Chassidus* is understood and acquired by bonding with friends. The success is then much greater. You must therefore study the Tanya* with at least one other person. In the holy city of Jerusalem (note: the city in which the recipient of this letter resides), there are many young men or older persons with whom you can establish a regular study session. Some will be able, if needed, to explain the difficult passages of these books to you. And you know the words of the Mitteler Rebbe* (note: see letter no. 5581), son of the Alter Rebbe*, according to which "when two people speak of Torah* and the service of Hashem, two divine souls join forces against a single animal soul." This is self-evident.

May Hashem grant that you inform me of a significant improvement in all of this. And nothing can withstand determination. Indeed, our Sages have made it known to us that "one who says he has toiled but not succeeded — do not believe him." You surely know of the three daily studies of ChiTaT* — Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. At the very least, you will adopt them in the future.

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ג מנ"א, בו כותב אשר אין לו סדר היום נמצא בדאגה ביאוש ובעצבות וכו' ואין יודע איך לשוב להשי"ת וכו'.

והנה כבר מלתו אמורה בכמה מספרים הקדושים ובפרט בספרי ומאמרי חסידות, ומהם בספר תניא קדישא וכמצוין במפתח הענינים אשר בסוף ספר התניא קדישא. אבל כמו שאר חלקי התורה נקלטת היא ונקנית בדבוק חברים ובהצלחה גדולה יותר, שמזה מובן שצריך ללמוד תניא עכ"פ עם עוד אחד, והרי הנמצאים בירושלים עיה"ק כמה אברכים וגם זקנים שיכול לקבוע שיעור עמהם בהנ"ל והם כאלה שיסבירוהו בדבר הקשה בספרים הנ"ל באם יוזקק לזה וידוע דברי כ"ק אדמו"ר האמצעי בנו של רבנו הזקן, שכששנים מתדברים בעניני תורה ועבודה הרי זה שתי נפשות אלקית על נפש הבהמית אחת, וק"ל.

ויהי רצון שיבשר מהטבה ניכרת בכל האמור ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון וע"פ הודעת חז"ל יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין.

בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים של חת"ת (חומש תהלים תניא) בכל יום, ועכ"פ ישמור עליהם מכאן ולהבא.
