To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Yosef Dovid (note: Rav Y. D. Leiner of Brooklyn),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of the day on which "good" was said twice (note: Tuesday — the third day of creation, when "it was good" was stated twice). You tell me that you have rented a new house. You ask me when and what to do. I do not understand what you mean. Perhaps you are asking me when to move.

It would be good to do so on the day on which "good" was said twice, if this is not too complicated. If this poses a problem, you can do so on other days of the week, with the exception of Monday and Wednesday. The Chassidim* have the custom of first introducing (note: see letter no. 4972) into a new house a Siddur*, a Chumash*, a Tehillim*, and a Tanya*. They also affix the mezuzos* immediately (note: see letter no. 4443) — of course, without a blessing. Then, on the thirtieth day, a mezuzah* is removed to be checked. Insofar as possible, it is replaced with another, more beautiful one, of better quality. When affixing it, one recites a blessing with the intention that it apply also to the entire house.

You are surely maintaining the three studies of Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*, in addition to your other studies of the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*.

במענה על מכתבו מיום שהוכפל בו כי טוב, בו כותב ששכרו דירה חדשה ושואל, מתי, ומה נעשה בה.

ואיננה מובנת כ"כ כוונתו, ואולי הפירוש מתי יעתיקו וכו' ומהנכון להעתיק ביום שהוכפל בו כי טוב אם אין בזה טרחה, ובאם ישנה טרחה יוכלו להעתיק גם בשאר ימי השבוע (לבד בימי ב' ד'), ונוהגים אנ"ש להכניס לדירה החדשה לכל לראש סידור חומש תהלים ותניא וכן לקבוע מזוזות תיכף, כמובן בלא ברכה, וביום השלשים ליטול מזוזה אחת על מנת לבודקה ובאם אפשר להחליפה ביפה ומהודרת ממנה, ובקביעתה לברך ולכוון להוציא בהברכה את כל הבית.

בטח שומר שלשת השיעורים בחומש תהלים תניא נוסף על שאר שיעוריו בתורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות.
