To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Gavriel (note: Rav G. Kagan of Kfar Chabad),
Greetings and blessings,
You are considering changing the arrangement and establishing a Chassidus* study session on the eve of Shabbos*, after Lechu Neranena and before Ke Gavna (note: before the Shema and its blessings, after reciting the Psalms of Friday evening; Rav Kagan wrote: "In my humble opinion, it is good to establish that the congregation welcomes the Shabbos with the Psalms Lechu Neranena, that there then be a study session, and that afterward the Maariv prayer be recited from Ke Gavna onward. This is what is done in the Chabad synagogue in Jerusalem."). According to what you tell me in your letter, this presents both advantages and disadvantages. One point that you did not mention is what the people will think who arrive at that moment and find that the prayer begins from Ke Gavna. Consequently, this practice may be adopted or not. You will follow the majority opinion of those who participate in this study.
In any event, may each person grow and adorn the Torah* — its revealed part and Chassidus* — a complete Torah*, with its body and its soul.

הנה גם כפי שמתאר במכתבו ישנם בזה צדדים חיובים וצדדים שלילים, וצד אחד שלא הזכירו הוא ע"ד מרז"ל מפני הנכנסים שיאמרו שמתחילים בכגוונא, ולכן דעביד כמר עביד ודעביד כמר עביד, וילכו אחר רצון הרוב הלומד זה.
ויה"ר שבכל אופן כאו"א יגדיל תורה ויאדירה תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות תורה תמימה גופא ונשמתא דאורייתא.
