To the leaders of the youth of the Chabad* association,

New Haven branch, may Hashem grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I received with pleasure your letter of the 4th of Tishrei*, with its contents. You describe to me briefly your activities of the past weeks. You are surely preparing a detailed program for the joyous days that are approaching, for us and for all of Israel, in a positive manner. These days include, in particular, the blessing of the four species, the Chassidic* gatherings of Simchas Beis HaShoevah*, of Shemini Atzeres*, and of Simchas Torah*.

This year, there will additionally be three consecutive days of joy — two days of Yom Tov* and a Shabbos* that follows, during which one recites: "May those who observe the Shabbos* rejoice in Your Kingship" — even though the content of this day is pleasure, as the texts of Chassidus* explain at length. May Hashem therefore grant that the number of activities and those to whom they are directed be multiplied. In good health and in joy, you will attain the highest elevation in the dissemination of the wellsprings outward, until this "outward" becomes "inward," as these days demand — from the eve of Rosh Chodesh* Elul, of which it is said: "Seek My Face. Hashem, I shall seek Your Face."

With my blessing that you give good news and be definitively inscribed for a good year,

בנועם קבלתי מכתבם מד' תשרי עם המוסגר בו, בו כותבים ראשי פרקים מפעולותיהם בשבועות האחרונים, ובודאי אשר מכינים תכנית מפורטת בהנוגע לימי השמחה הבאים עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה, ברכת ד' מינים, התועדות דשמחת בית השואבה שמע"צ ושמח"ת וכו'.

וכיון אשר בשנה זו הם שלשה ימי שמחה תכופות, שני ימים חג ויום הש"ק שלאחריו אשר בשבת אומרים ישמחו במלכותך שומ"ש (אף שמובן ענין השבת הוא ענין התענוג כמבואר בדא"ח בארוכה), יהי רצון אשר תתרבה מספר הפעולות ויתרבה מספר המושפעים שלהם, ומתוך בריאות הנכונה ושמחה יעלו מעלה מעלה בענין הפצת המעינות חוצה עד שיהפכו את החוצה לפנים וכבקשת ימים אלו מתחיל מער"ח אלול, בקשו פני את פניך ה' אבקש.
