Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter in which you describe what happened — this Rav* who spoke harsh words against the study of the inner dimension of the Torah*.

It would be good for you to assemble the statements of Rabbi Chaim Vital*, in his introduction to the Shaar HaHakdamos*, which also appears in the Etz Chaim*, Warsaw edition; those of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, in the addenda to the Kuntres Etz Chaim*; and those of the Rebbe Rashab* in that same Kuntres* (note: of which he is the author). To these you will add the well-known excerpt from the holy letter of the Baal Shem Tov*, which states: "When your wellsprings spread outward, he (note: the King Moshiach*) will come." If this man is additionally an opponent of Chassidus*, you may also add to this the statement of the Gaon of Vilna* (note: see, on this subject, Igros Kodesh, letter no. 5653) according to which the redemption depends on it (note: on the study of the inner dimension of the Torah*).

You will send him all these texts and ask him either to affirm that he is in disagreement with each of them and adopts the contrary opinion, or to retract his words and affirm so publicly, as the Halachah* requires in such a case. He must make publicly known that he retracts what he said, since he had stated his position publicly.

Even if you do not obtain such a result, you will at least be protected in the future. You are surely preparing a program to take advantage of the propitious days that are approaching, to the broadest extent. May Hashem grant that you meet with success.

במענה על מכתבו בו כותב אודות המאורע עם הרב... שי' מה שיצא בדברים חריפים בהנוגע ללימוד פנימיות התורה וכו'.

מהנכון הי' שיקבץ מדברי הרח"ו (בהקדמתו לשער ההקדמות נדפס ג"כ בע"ח דפוס ורשא, ובהוספה לקונטרס עץ חיים לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר וכן מדברי כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב בקונטרס הנ"ל, ובהוספת הקטע הידוע מאגרת הק' הבעש"ט לכשיפוצו מעינותיך חוצה קאתי מר, ואם להנ"ל ישנה גם מהמעלה שהוא מהעולמ'שע יכול לצרף דברי הגר"א שבזה תלוי הגאולה וישלח לו את הנ"ל בבקשה, שאחת משתי אלה, או שיאמר שחולק הוא על הנ"ל ואומר היפך דעתם, ובאם לאו יחזור מדבריו שאמר בפומבי וכהדין בזה שצריך להודיע שחוזר בו ג"כ בפומבי כמו שפרסם דבריו להיפך.

באם אפילו לא יפעול את האמור, בודאי שיהי' זה תריס בהנוגע לעתיד.

בודאי מכינים תכנית לנצל ימי סגולה הבאים ובממדים הכי רחבים ויה"ר שיהי' בהצלחה.
