Greetings and blessings,

I have seen, in recent years, in a periodical published in Switzerland, a passage relating to the luminous day of 19 Kislev* (note 1: of which the addressee of this letter is the author). I therefore take the liberty of sending you a brochure relating to this festival. It will surely be possible to use it, or to use its content, in order to explain the significance of this date in circles that, for whatever reason, are not yet aware of it.

If it has always been demanded that every means be employed to campaign for the strengthening and dissemination of Judaism, how much more so in our orphan generation. At the same time, one currently perceives a profound disillusionment with the idols of the various idealisms one encounters in the street. This disillusionment has brought about the realization that one must set for oneself a true objective, a purpose in life — to live a Jewish life. Whoever guides those who are searching toward a true path leading to this objective — the path of the Torah* and the Mitzvos* — saves a Jewish soul. Very often, it is thus an entire family that is saved, and sometimes even the entire milieu in which one moves (note 2: through the influence this person exerts on his family or milieu). The merit of the public assists all who make efforts in this direction and causes their intervention to bear fruit.

I send you my blessing for success in your action to support the Tradition of Israel, which undoubtedly multiplies the blessings of Hashem for you personally, as the One Who gives the Torah* affirms in His Torah*.

...כיון שבשנים שעברו ראיתי במכ"ע המופיע בשווייץ, קטע בקשר עם יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, הנני מרשה לעצמי להסגיר חוברת בפרשת חג זה, ובטח יש מקום לנצלה או תוכנה בכדי לבאר פרשת היום לחוגים אשר מאיזה סיבות לא נודע להם עד"ז עד עתה, ואם בכל הזמנים דרשו לנצל כל אופני תעמולה להחזקת היהדות והפצתה, עאכו"כ בדורנו דור יתום, ואשר ביחד עם זה נרגשת אכזבה גדולה באלילי האידעאליזם השונות של הרחוב, והאכזבה הביאה להכרה שצריך למצוא המטרה האמיתית להתכלית בחיים, חיי האיש הישראלי, וכל הקודם להורות להמחפשים הדרך האמיתית המובילה למטרה זו צריך התורה והמצוה, הרי זה מקיים נפש מישראל ולעתים תכופות ביותר, קיום נפש זה מקיים כל הבית ולפעמים גם החוג בו נמצא, וזכות הרבים מסייעת כל המשתדלים בזה בהצלחה בהשתדלותם.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתו להרמת קרן ישראל סבא, ובודאי שמביאה היא גם לתוספת בברכות השי"ת בענינים הפרטים, וכהבטחת נותן התורה בתורתו.
