Igrot Kodesh · Letter 589 — Ohel Custom — Fasting Before Visiting
Volume 3 · Letter 191 · [2 Iyar 5710]
[2 Iyar 5710]
I heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, that before going to the tomb (the ohel*), it is customary not to eat. However, one may drink.
You may consult on this matter the Zohar* vol. 3, page 71b,[1] the later poskim on Shulchan Aruch* Orach Chaim at the end of chapter 581,[2] the Likkutei Tzvi, the Yalkut Avraham of Rav Avraham Lipschitz on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, chapter 581,[3] and the Elef HaMagen at the same reference.[4]
