Igrot Kodesh · Letter 606 — Tzaddik's Blessing & Healing Through Mitzvos
Volume 3 · Letter 208
By the grace of Hashem,
17 Iyar 5710,
To Mrs. ....,
I bless you and greet you.
I received your letter in its time and reply to it.
You must be certain that the blessings granted by our Rebbe, my father-in-law, remain fully valid and that they will be entirely fulfilled.
You write that you have consulted a doctor, and so you are surely complying with his prescriptions.
Healing is sent by Hashem, as is physical strength. That said, the Torah establishes that He wishes to act through an emissary — in this case the doctor and his prescriptions. But one must always remember that the most effective remedies are the Mitzvos* and the good deeds that Hashem expects from each of us. These bring health and strength, just like the blessings the Rebbe granted you.
The blessing of the tzaddik is fulfilled in any case.
With my blessing and with greetings to your son,
Rav Menachem Schneerson
