Igrot Kodesh · Letter 608 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

Hillula of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai 5710,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, ...

I greet you and bless you.

You tell me that you have purchased, with your brother, the house for which you had received in its time the consent of my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

The words of the tzaddikim are eternal, and this purchase will therefore be at a good and fruitful moment, in accordance with the blessing of my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

Chassidus* explains the importance of a house in its spiritual dimension. You may consult on this Likkutei Torah, end of Parshas Berachah, in the second discourse entitled "Mizmor Shir Chanukas," the end of the discourse-series Mayim Rabbim 5636,[1] by the Rebbe Maharash. And it is known that what exists materially derives from what exists spiritually and bears the same name in lashon ha-kodesh* (the Holy Tongue). That is why the material action awakens its spiritual source.

May Hashem grant that it be so for the purchase of this house. Its building will be wholesome materially and spiritually, as desires the one who wishes you well and sends greetings to your wife, including her in the blessing previously given,

מבואר בתורת החסידות גודל ענין בית ברוחניות - ראה לקו"ת ס"פ ברכה ד"ה מזמור שיר חנוכת (השני), סוף המשך מים רבים תרל"ו ועוד - וידוע אשר ענינים הגשמיים הם משתלשלים מענינים הרוחניים שנקראו בלה"ק בשמם, ולכן הענינים הגשמיים מעוררים במדה ידועה את הענינים הרוחניים.

ויהי רצון אשר גם זה יקויים ע"י קנין בית זה, ויהי הבנין שלם בגשמיות וברוחניות כאיחול הדו"ש ופו"ש ביתו תי' בברכה הנ"ל
