By the grace of Hashem,
22 Iyar 5710,
To the young man, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, ...
I greet you and bless you.
I reply to your letter.
May Hashem grant the full fulfillment of the blessings, material and spiritual, that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, grants you — all the more so since you will soon establish yourself in the most appropriate way, materially and spiritually, on every point.
From the age of twenty-five, one may be enlisted in the army, according to the verse Beha'aloscha 8:24,[1] and the meaning of an army is clarified in the maamar* of 13 Shevat,[2] at the end of the paragraph beginning "And they shall make Me a sanctuary."
You may consult on this the Kessef Mishneh on the Laws of Temple Vessels, chapter 3, paragraph 7.
