By the grace of Hashem*,

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I am responding to your letter. I read therein, with pleasure, that you have made the acquaintance of Chabad* Chassidim*. You listened to their wondrous accounts and their various melodies. But, no doubt you have also inquired about the teaching of Chassidus* and its practices. Indeed, the purpose of man consists in adopting a way of life in conformity with our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, with its Precepts permeated by a generous attitude. And, everything depends on willpower, for our Sages* have assured, in this matter, that "if someone tells you that he made efforts, but did not know success — do not believe him."

You ask me about the Chabad* Chassidim*. Now, several books and various pamphlets have been published on this subject. You will learn of them from the Chassidim* you have met. I have good hope that your correspondence with me will allow you increased ardor and impetus for the study of the Torah*, the practice of the mitzvos* in the best way. May Hashem* grant you success.

במענה למכתבו,

נעם לי לקרות בו אשר הכיר חסידי חב"ד, ובטח נוסף על מה ששמע מאתם סיפורים נפלאים ומנגינות שונות, חקר גם אודות תורת החסידות והדרכותי', שהרי זה כל האדם להתנהג באורח חיים מתאים להוראת תורתנו הק' תורת חיים, הוראות חדורות מדות חסידותיות. ואין הדבר אלא ברצון, שהרי הבטיחו חז"ל יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין.

בשאלתו אודות חסידי חב"ד וכו' הרי כמה ספרים וגם חוברות נדפסות ישנם בענין זה, ויוכל להוודע אודותם אצל החסידים עמהם נפגש.

תקותי שהקישור מכתבים אתי יביא להוספה בהתמדה ושקידה בלימוד התורה והידור בקיום המצות, והשי"ת יצליחו.
