By the grace of Hashem*,

22 Adar* 5718,

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I am responding to your letter of 18 Adar*, in which you tell me that you paid an advance for the acquisition of a home, hoping to complete the payment according to the agreed schedule. But, in the meantime, your plans have changed and it is difficult for you to meet your commitments. If you indicate to me your full name and that of your mother, in Hebrew, I will mention them at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, so that you may know success in this matter.

You have lived, for several years, in a great city, that of Jerusalem, may Hashem* restore and rebuild it. And, it is regarding this that it is said: "Salvation comes from many counselors" (note 1: Which one can indeed consult in a great city). You have paid an advance and this transaction is maintained. You must therefore bring it to completion. My father-in-law, the Rebbe*, cited to me, regarding his charitable funds, the teaching of our Sages* according to which "whoever takes a coin from Iyov* becomes rich" (note 2: For he was a man of integrity and uprightness). For this reason, I enclose a check from one of these funds, which still operate at the present time. You will mix these coins with the sum you are collecting for the purpose of meeting your commitments. Thus, I am certain that this promise will be fulfilled.

In order to multiply the blessing and to strengthen your attachment to the proprietor of this fund, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, you know the teaching that Chassidus* gives. You must study his explanations, observe his directives and the practices he instituted. Consequently, you will maintain in the future, without making a vow, the three well-known daily studies — the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*. You will also study the Chassidic* explanations of the master — the Chassidic* discourses of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*. It would be good that three days not elapse without such study. And, nothing withstands determination. You write to me that you are the student of Rav Sh. Y. Zevin (note 3: Of Jerusalem. See, on his subject, Letter no. 6012). Without a doubt, he will guide you and direct you in this matter.

במענה למכתבו מח"י אדר, בו כותב אשר נתן דמי קדימה לדירה בתקוה להשלים בזמנים המיועדים מה שהתנו, אבל בינתים חלו שינוים בתכניתו וקשה עליו לסלק את ההתחייבות שלו,

וכשיודיע שמו ושם אמו בלשון הקדש ובמילואם, אזכירו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להצלחה בזה,

וכיון שנמצא בעיר גדולה כירושלים ת"ו זה כמה שנים, הרי על כגון דא נאמר ותשועה ברוב יועץ, והרי כיון שכבר נתן דמי קדימה ונמשך בהענין מובן שצריך להביאו לידי גמר טוב.

שמעתי מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בהנוגע להקופות שלו, מאמר רז"ל כל הנוטל פרוטה מאיוב מתברך, וע"פ האמור מצו"פ המחאה מאחת הקופות של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הקימות ונמשכות גם עתה, ויערב פרוטות אלו בהכספים שאוסף לסלק התחייבותו ובטוחני שתקוים הבטחה האמורה.

אלא שבכדי להרבות הברכה לחזק הקישור עם בעל הקופה הוא כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר והמקבל, ידוע גם בזה הוראת תורת החסידות, שהוא על ידי לימוד תורתו ושמירת ההדרכות שלו והתקנות שתקן, לכן מהנכון שבל"נ ישמור מכאן ולהבא שלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים וכן בתורת הרב (ומה טוב באופן שלא יעברו שלשה ימים בלא זה) קביעות שיעור בלימוד תורת החסידות מאמרי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, ובודאי שהרש"י שליט"א זוין שכותב שהוא מתלמידיו, ייעצו וידריכו בהאמור.
