To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,
the Rav M. Z. HaLevi,[1]
I greet you and bless you.
The news has reported the flooding of the river crossing the city of Winnipeg, which has caused an inundation.[2] It would therefore be wise that the students of the yeshiva* go to inquire about the situation of the Jews of this city — in particular of the Chassidim — in order to come to their aid to the full extent possible. This concerns more specifically the children, who must be well watched over when they find themselves in shelters, that is, in unfavorable conditions.
Some time ago, you went to Winnipeg at the request of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, and you therefore know the Chassidim who reside there. Please write to them and take an interest in their situation.
You will tell me everything that has been done in this matter, and if it is possible to conduct an action here on their behalf, with Hashem's help, please indicate this to me and formulate your opinion.

ובאשר הוא ביקר לפני זמן בשליחות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ את וויניפעג ומכיר באנ"ש שי' - אבקשו לבא אתם בכתיבה ולהתענין בהם.
נא להודיעני מכל הנעשה בזה, ובאם רואים שיש לעשות בעזהשי"ת גם פה דבר מה לטובתם נא להציע לי דעתו בזה.
