I am responding to your letter of 7 Iyar* and, in accordance with your request, I am responding to you ahead of the queue. You inform me of the proposal to travel to Vienna in order to organize the transfer to the Holy Land of the remains of the grandfather of your mother-in-law, to whom Hashem* will grant long life. It is, of course, preferable that one of the family members accompany the coffin from there to the Holy Land. However, one must take into account the expenses that this will entail. You know that there are, in Vienna, several people who fear Hashem*, to whom one can entrust this matter. Likewise, on the airplane that will transport the coffin to the Holy Land, there will surely be several Jewish travelers who will be trustworthy. Moreover, it will probably be unnecessary to change planes and the coffin will travel directly to Lod, where the family members will be.

You also envisage, in your letter, the transfer of the coffin from Vienna by boat. You are surely referring to an Israeli boat. In that case, the voyage will have to take place during the week, or else you will take a boat that is not Israeli. With my blessing to convey good news,

במענה למכתבו מז' אייר, וכבקשתו בא המענה מבלי לחכות על התור.

בו כותב ע"ד ההצעה שיסע לווינה בכדי לסדר העלאת עצמותיו של אבי' זקנה של חמותו שתליט"א לאה"ק ת"ו.

והנה מובן שהידור יש בזה כשאחד מבני המשפחה ילוה הארון מהתם לאה"ק ת"ו, אבל ביחד עם זה צריך להביא בחשבון ההוצאות הכרוכות בדבר, והרי נודע אשר בווינה נמצאים כמה יראי ה' שיש לסמוך עליהם בענינים כהנ"ל, וכן בהאוירון בו יביאו הארון משם לאה"ק ת"ו ודאי שיסעו כמה יהודים בעלי סמכא, ועוד שהרי בטח יהי' זה בלא חליפין מאוירון לאוירון, ז.א. שכשיעלה הארון לאוירון ישאר שם עד ביאתו ללוד, ששם יפגשהו מי מבני המשפחה.

במכתבו מזכיר ע"ד עליית הארון לאה"ק ת"ו מווינה באני' ובודאי הכוונה באם אני' ישראלית, שהנסיעה תהי' רק בימות החול, או באני' לא ישראלית.
