By the grace of Hashem*,

To the attention of the members of the rabbinical committee of East Flatbush, may Hashem* grant you long life,

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I have received, with pleasure, the information regarding your sacred mission, the construction of a Mikvah* in your neighborhood. You have set for 14 Iyar*, the date of Pesach Sheini*, a festive meeting for this purpose. May Hashem* grant that His wish know success, that the construction begin and that it be truly positive, that it be a good Mikvah*, "enabling one to satisfy the opinions of all the halachic* authorities, including those who were not followed by others, due to their stringent position," in accordance with the words of the Rashbatz*, in chapter 17. And, may purity multiply in Israel — family purity and individual purity, purity of body and purity of soul, purity of actions and purity of opinions.

In your days and in ours, may the promise be fulfilled, stated at the end of tractate Sotah*, according to which purity brings about the coming of the prophet Eliyahu*, the herald of our true redemption, through our righteous Mashiach*, as it is said (Yechezkel* 36:24-28): "I will take you... I will sprinkle upon you pure waters and you will be purified... You will settle in the land... You will be My people and I will be your Elokim*." With my respects and my blessing of success,

The verse says: "I am the friend of all those who fear You," and the Shnei Luchos HaBris* deduces from this, on page 66a, that "every time a person observes a group forming for the accomplishment of a sacred act, for example for the purchase of a mitzvah*, he shall join them." I therefore enclose a check, which is my contribution to the construction of this important edifice.

בנועם קבלתי הודעתם ע"ד פעולתם בקודש, בנין מקוה טהרה בשכונתם, ואשר קבעו ליום י"ד אייר, פסח שני אסיפת-חגיגה מוקדשת לתכלית האמורה.

ויהי רצון אשר חפץ ה' בידם יצליח להתחיל הבנין בפועל ולשכללו שכלול אמתי, שתהי' המקוה מהודרה "לצאת ידי כל דעות הפוסקים ואפילו היחידים להחמיר כדעותיהם" - וכידועה הוראת התשב"ץ (סי' יז).

ותתרבה הטהרה בישראל טהרת המשפחה וטהרת היחיד, טהרת הגוף וטהרת

הנשמה, טהרת הפעולות וטהרת הדעות,

ובימיהם ובימינו יקוים היעוד טהרה מביאה כו' אלי' הנביא (סוף סוטה) מבשר גאולתנו האמתית ע"י משיח צדקנו.

וכמש"נ (יחזקאל [לו, כד-ח]) ולקחתי אתכם וגו' וזרקתי עליכם מים טהורים וטהרתם וגו' וישבתם בארץ וגו' והייתם לי לעם ואנכי אהי' לכם לאלקים.

אמר הכתוב חבר אני לכל אשר יראוך גו' ופי' השל"ה (סו, א) בכל מקום שאדם רואה חבורה קדישא יתחבר להם כגון חבורה... הקונים איזה מצוה כו'. ומצורפת בזה המחאה - השתתפותי במגבית לבנין משוכלל האמור.
