By the grace of Hashem*,

To the leaders and friends of the Beis Rivkah* schools, in general, to those who participate in the sixteenth annual banquet of these Beis Rivkah* schools, in particular, may Hashem* grant you long life,

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I am writing this letter on the day when, thirty-one years ago, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, was arrested, due to his struggle and his action to maintain the Judaism of the Torah* and the mitzvos*, to spread them. He stood against the forces working to extinguish, which Hashem* forbid, every spark of Judaism. His exceptional self-sacrifice enabled, in the end, prevailing and he was subsequently liberated, on 12 and 13 Tammuz*. The banquet of the Beis Rivkah* schools will take place during the intermediate period, when the outcome was still uncertain.

In free countries, a Jew does not need to risk his life to achieve this objective, which is the spreading of Judaism, in general, the education of our youth in the perspective of Jewish Truth, in particular. For all that, from various viewpoints, the situation is no less critical than it was at that time. Regarding the good education of girls, a particular effort is necessary and, as is known, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, devoted much time and attention to creating and developing the Beis Rivkah* schools.

You have the great merit of supporting, strengthening, and developing this immense achievement. What is demanded at the present time is much easier. It is no longer a matter of offering one's life, but of giving one's will, as it is said: "Make your will His." Your will to act in this matter will be as if it were a personal concern, as if one personally owned these Beis Rivkah* schools. I hope that with genuine determination and intense joy, you will accord your material support and also your moral adhesion to the Beis Rivkah* schools and you will ensure that others imitate your example. Without a doubt, Hashem* will fulfill His promise and He will grant you success, including for yourself and for your own family, materially and spiritually. With my blessing to convey good news of all that has just been said,

הנני כותב מכתב זה ביום שבו)לפני 31שנה( הרבי חמי נאסר ב]גלל[

מאבקו ובגלל עבודתו ,להחזקת יהדות תורה ומצוות והפצתם -מאבקו

נגד הכוחות העצומים שרצו לכבות ,ח״ו ,כל ניצוץ של יהדות .אבל

מסירות נפשו היוצאת מהכלל ניצחה סוף־כל-סוף ,והוא שוחרר בי״ב-י״ג

תמוז.

המסיבה של בתי הספר בית רבקה מתקיימת בזמן שבינתיים,

כאשר ההכרעה היתה מונחת על כף המאזניים.

אף שבמדינות החפשיות יהודי אינו צריך לסכן את חייו כדי למלא

את חובתו להפיץ יהדות בכלל ובמיוחד בתחום החינוך היהודי האמיתי

של הנוער שלנו ,אך מצב היהדות במובנים רבים לא פחות קריטי מאשר

באותן שנים .בתחום חינוך הבנות -חינוך כשר של בנות ישראל -נדרש

במיוחד המאמץ הגדול ביותר .וכידוע ,הקדיש הרבי חמי זמן ומאמץ רב

כדי להקים ולהרחיב את בתי הספר בית רבקה.

בידכם הזכות הגדולה להמשיך ,לקיים ולהרחיב את העבודה הגדולה

והאחראית הזו .אך כעת הדרישה היא הרבה יותר קלה -לא מסירות נפש

אלא -מסירות הרצון .עשה רצונו כרצונך -שתרצו לפעול בזה באותו רצון

שרוצים דבר אישי .בתי הספר בית רבקה הם דבר פרטי שלבם.

הנני מקוה ,שברצון תקיף ובשמחה פנימית תתנו את תמיכתכם

הגשמית המלאה וגם סיוע רוחני לבתי הספר בית רבקה ,ותשפיעו שגם

אחרים יעשו כן.
