Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from after Shabbos* and the one that followed it. At a propitious moment, I will mention all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in accordance with what you write. It is surely unnecessary to emphasize that the more you strengthen your engagement in the Torah* and the mitzvos*, the more you will multiply the blessings of Hashem* in your needs and those of your family. You also allude to the medical consultation undergone by your wife. I am surprised that you do not tell me whether the doctor prescribed compresses for her. This is, very often, the means of obtaining a complete healing. Perhaps there is still time to consult him on this matter.

You tell me, furthermore, that you do not know what you want and are not conscious of what you lack. This statement seems to contradict the beginning of your letter. Indeed, you write that certain members of your family are not in good health and that they need a complete healing. Now, you know the statement of our Sages* according to which the two hundred and forty-eight limbs of the human body correspond to the two hundred and forty-eight positive commandments, and the three hundred and sixty-five sinews correspond to the three hundred and sixty-five prohibitions. A deficiency of the body must therefore be complemented by also seeking the health of the soul. By fortifying this soul, one also strengthens the body, in the simplest sense, and in this way, the medical treatment becomes more fruitful. Moreover, physical healing is among the things one asks of Hashem*, for everything is in His hands. Regarding the healing of the soul, on the other hand, our Torah*, Torah* of life, has made known to us that "everything is in the hands of Hashem*, except the fear of Hashem*." In this matter, free will is indeed granted to man, which means that nothing resists a strong determination — that of rising and making an addition to the Torah*, from one level to the next. May Hashem* grant that you convey good news of all this.

You surely have knowledge of the three well-known studies, concerning the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*. We have heard many times from my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, that these concern everyone and that they have a propitious effect in various domains. Likewise, it would be good to have the Mezuzos* of your apartment checked, in order to ensure that they are all kosher*, in conformity with the halachah*. Finally, your wife will maintain the custom of virtuous Jewish women, which consists of setting aside tzedakah* before lighting the candles on the eve of Shabbos* and the festivals. במענה למכתבו ממוצש"ק ושלאחרי זה.

בעת רצון יזכירו את כל אלה שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מתאים לתוכן כתבו.

בודאי למותר לעוררו שככל שמוסיפין בעניני תורה ומצות מתוסף בברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך לאדם וביתו.

במ"ש אודות בקור זוגתו תחי' אצל הרופא, - לפלא שאינו מזכיר אם צוה לה לעשות קאמפרעסען והרי לפעמים קרובות ביותר עי"ז עובר כל הענין, ואולי כדאי לשאול את הרופא עד"ז גם עתה.

במ"ש שאינו יודע מה שהוא רוצה ומה שחסר לו.

הרי לכאורה זהו סתירה לתחלת מכתבו, שהרי כיון שכותב שמבני ביתו יש כאלו שחסר להם בבריאות הגוף זקוקים לרפואה וכו' וידועים דברי חז"ל רמ"ח אבריו של אדם כנגד רמ"ח מצות עשה ושס"ה גידיו כנגד שס"ה מצות לא תעשה! הרי מובן שחסרון בגוף צריך למלאות גם בבריאות הנשמה, וכשמוסיפין חיות בנשמה הרי מתוסף גם כן חיות כפשוט בגוף ומתוספת ההצלחה בטפול הרפואי, ועוד זאת שבה בשעה שבהנוגע לבריאות הגוף ה"ז מהענינים שמבקשים עליהם רפואת השי"ת ומרפא כי הכל בידי שמים, הנה בהנוגע לבריאות הנשמה, הודיעה תורתנו תורת חיים שחוץ מיראת שמים, שהבחירה ניתנה לאדם, שמזה מובן שאין לך דבר העומד בפני רצון התקיף וחזק לעלות להוסיף בתורה מחיל אל חיל ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בכל האמור.

בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים אשר כמה פעמים שמענו מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע אשר שוים הם לכל נפש וסגולה לכמה ענינים,

וכן מהנכון אשר יבדקו את המזוזות בדירתם שתהיינה כולן כשרות כדין, ואשר זוגתו תחי' תחזיק במנהג בנות ישראל הכשרות להפריש לצדקה קודם הדלקת הנרות בכל ערב שבת וערב יום טוב.
