To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*,

Rav Avraham Zusha (note 1: Rav A. Z. Ziskind, of Brooklyn. See, on his subject, Letter no. 2335),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your request for a blessing, with what was enclosed therein, and may Hashem* grant that for many years to come, you continue your action for the Torah* and the mitzvos* in general, for the mitzvah* of tzedakah* in particular. Indeed, according to the explanations of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and decisor of the hidden part of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and decisor of the revealed teaching of the Torah*, in chapter 9 of Iggeres HaKodesh*, the essential phase of the service of Hashem* in this era of the heel of Mashiach* is that of tzedakah*, and it was said only about their era (note 2: In the era of the Talmud) that "the study of the Torah* is the equivalent of good deeds."

Of course (note 3: See, on this subject, Letter no. 6273), no objection can be raised, even according to the revealed part of the Torah*, on the basis of the statement that the study of the Torah* is the equivalent of good deeds. Indeed, a mitzvah* that can only be put into practice during a limited period of time, or that cannot be entrusted to another person, overrides the study of the Torah*, according to the tractate Moed Katan* 9b. And it is said that "in the era of the heel of Mashiach*, prices will climb and the son of David will reveal himself when there are no more coins in the pockets." You will consult, on this subject, Iggeres HaKodesh*, chapter 14. And may Hashem* grant that these fruits, which one consumes in this world, be maintained and that they exercise their effect in all the limbs of the body in general, in the feet in particular (note 4: Our Sages* say that "money allows a man to stand on his feet"), according to Iggeres HaKodesh*, chapter 9. I think especially of the feet of your tall son Yechiel, may Hashem* grant him long life. You will therefore give me good news concerning him. With my blessing for good health and to convey good news of all this,

שלום וברכה! מאשרים קבלת הפ"נ שלו עם המצורף אליו, ויהי רצון שעוד רבות בשנים ימשיך בעניני תורה ומצות בכלל ובמצות הצדקה ביחוד, ובפרט ע"פ דברי רבנו זקן בעל התנאי (פוסק בנסתר דתורה) והשולחן ערוך (פוסק בנגלה דתורה) איך היות כל עיקר עבודת ה' בעתים הללו בעקבות משיחא היא עבודת הצדקה כו' ולא אמרו רז"ל ת"ת כנגד גמ"ח אלא בימיהם כו' (אגה"ק ס"ט).

ומובן שגם ע"פ נגלה אין קושיא ממרז"ל ת"ת שקול כנגד גמ"ח, כי הרי מצוה שזמנה עובר וכן זו שאי אפשר לעשותה ע"י אחרים דוחה תורה (מו"ק ט' ע"ב).

ובעקבתא דמשיחא הרי היוקר יאמיר כו' ואין בן דוד בא עד שתכלה פרוטה מן הכיס (עיין אגה"ק סוף סי' יו"ד).

ויהי רצון שפירות הנ"ל שאוכלין אותם בעוה"ז יומשכו ויפעלו בהנוגע לאברים בכלל ובחי' רגלים בפרט (אגה"ק סי' ט') של בנו הגדול יחיאל שליט"א. ויבשר טוב גם אודותו.

בברכה לבריאות הנכונה ולבשורות טובות בכל האמור.
