Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 23 Tammuz*. You are considering submitting a new application for citizenship (note 2: To be naturalized as a British citizen). In general, this is wise. Nevertheless, according to what our Sages* say, the time is not propitious for this at the beginning of the month of Menachem Av*. You will therefore wait until the day of 15 Av* or the following day to do so.

You also mention the month of Cheshvan*, but it seems to me that the Chassidim* do not have the custom of fixing marriages there. I am surprised that you do not tell me anything about the manner in which you conveyed to the Chassidim* of London an account of what took place here. Indeed, it has been explained on various occasions and in many Chassidic* stories that a journey like the one you made here must be useful for everyone. Moreover, as far as you are concerned, no effort, no initiative is necessary for this. Indeed, it is not at all burdensome to organize a Chassidic* gathering and to convey a few points of the discourse and the talks. On the contrary, this is satisfying, including for the animal soul. Indeed, the latter has cohabited with the divine soul for many years already and it is therefore not possible that this proximity has not had a concrete effect, all the more so since in each person, according to his situation, the divine soul strives to convince the animal soul — how much more so among the students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*. May Hashem* grant that you give me good news of all this. With my blessing to convey these good news,

שלום וברכה! במענה למכתבו מכ"ג תמוז.

במ"ש אודות להגיש עוד פעם בקשה בהנוגע לבירגערשאפט, בכלל נכון הדבר, אבל ע"פ המובא בדברי רז"ל אין הזמן גרמא בתחלת ח' מנ"א כ"א ביום או לאחרי ט"ו באב.

במה שמזכיר חדש חשון, כמדומה שאין נוהגים בתוככי אנ"ש לעשות חתונה בחדש זה.

לפלא שאין מזכיר דבר ממסירת הפ"ש מכאן בתוככי אנ"ש דלונדון, והרי מדובר כ"פ וגם בכמה סיפורי חסידים, שבנסיעה כנסיעתו לכאן - צריך להשתדל ביותר שתהי' בזה גם תועלת הרבים, ובפרט שבנדון דידי' הרי אין זקוק בזה להתשדלות וליגיעה גדולה, שהרי עריכת התועדות ולבוא למסור נקודות ממה שנדבר במאמר ושיחות - אין בזה יגיעה כלל, ואדרבה משביע רצון ושל נה"ב ג"כ, שהרי סו"ס לאחרי כמה שנים שנמצאת ביחד עם נה"א אי אפשר שלא יפעול עלי' עצם השכנות. ובפרט כשכל אחד לפי מעמדו ומצבו משתדלת נפה"א שבו בהנוגע לנה"ב שבו, וביחוד בתוככי תלמידי התמימים, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל.
