To my close relative, the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Shmuel Menachem Mendel (note 1: Rav S. M. M. Schneersohn, of Jerusalem. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5343),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 28 Tammuz*. At a propitious moment, I will mention the one you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in accordance with the content of your letter. May Hashem* grant that you give me good news regarding him and regarding all that you write to me.

The central point of all this is the necessity of achieving success in the spreading of the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) to the outside, which is timely, for it is during these Three Weeks (note 3: Of commemoration of the destruction of the Temple) that the veil became deep. It is for this reason that exile is compared to sleep, as established by several texts of Chassidus*. You will consult, on this subject, the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "That night," of 5700 (note 4: 1940, by the Previous Rebbe). In such a situation, one must strengthen even more clearly the revelation of the deep dimension — that of our Torah* — until it reaches the outside and destroys "the other side." Then, King Moshiach* will come. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

שלום וברכה! במענה למכתבו מכ"ח תמוז. בעת רצון יזכירו את זה שכותב אודותו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, מתאים לתוכן כתבו, ויהי רצון שיבשר טוב בזה, וכן בשאר הענינים אודותם כותב, ובנקודה הפנימית - ע"ד הצלחת הפצת המעינות חוצה, והרי זה גם מענינא דיומא, שבין המצרים שהי' אז העלם הפנימיות, שלכן נקרא הגלות בשם שינה וכמבואר בכ"מ בדא"ח (עיין ג"כ ד"ה בלילה ההוא קיץ ת"ש), הרי צריך להגביר ביותר וביותר גילוי הפנימית, פנימית תורתנו, עד שיגיעו גם חוצה ויבער את הלעו"ז וקאתי מלכא משיחא.
