Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of Rosh Chodesh* Menachem*, in which you tell me that it is being proposed that you travel outside of Eretz Yisrael* in order to collect funds. I am somewhat surprised that you would consider such a suggestion. Indeed, you cannot be unaware that such proposals are made only to good souls (note 1: Given the difficulties, the frequent absences, the discomfort), which means that they are accepted only when one cannot do otherwise. It is clear that this does not correspond to your situation, which, Heaven forbid, is not the case.

You ask me whether you should abandon your work and teach within the network (note 2: Of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch schools in the Holy Land), your wife having expressed her agreement for this. In general, my position is known and I have written it to several people. Whoever has aptitudes enabling him to work in education based on sacred values must do so. Happy is his lot and that of the members of his family, materially and spiritually. When it concerns a specific person and a defined proposal, one must, obviously, examine all its aspects and, based on this, make a decision in order, as I have said, to opt for the good part — education that brings the hearts of the children of Israel closer to our Father Who is in Heaven. שלום וברכה! במענה למכתבו מר"ח מנחם, בו כותב שמציעים לו לנסוע לחו"ל בתור שד"ר.

ולפלא קצת הקס"ד בזה, שהרי אי אפשר שלא ידע מאלו שכבר ניסו בהאמור שאין זה ענין אלא בשביל נפש היפה, שמזה מובן שאין מקום להצעות כאלו אלא בדלית ברירה, ובודאי שאין זה ח"ו מצבו הוא.

במ"ש האם לעזוב משרתו ב... ולהיות מורה ברשת וגם זוגתו תחי' מסכימה לזה.

הנה בכלל ידועה דעתי וכמו שכתבתי לכמה, שכל המוכשר לעבוד בשטח חנוך עטה"ק אשרי חלקו וחלק ב"ב הן בגשמיות והן ברוחני'. ובהנוגע לאיש פרטי ולהצעה פרטית, מובן שצריך לברר הפרטים ובהתאם לזה להחליט וע"פ הנ"ל לנטות לחלק היפה הוא חנוך המקרב לבם של בני ובנות ישראל לאבינו שבשמים.
