Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 7 Menachem Av*, in which you describe to me briefly what your life has been until now, the moral upheavals and the evolutions of your state of mind. Then, with the help of Hashem* and thanks to various interventions, you managed to master yourself and you are currently a student of the preparatory class of the holy Yeshivah*, founded and directed by our holy masters, whose merit protects us.

It is surely unnecessary to remind you that you must strengthen your trust in the Creator of the world, Who directs it. Indeed, "all that Hashem* does is for the good" and, with true tranquility, with joy and inspiration, you will therefore study with ardor and constancy, you will fulfill the Mitzvos* in the best manner. Regarding the disputes you mention, the best means is not to enter into the confrontation, Heaven forbid, or, according to the expression of our Sages*, "to hear and not to respond." This is the most effective way to reduce polemics and altercations, as I have said. The true point is, in fact, the following: the simple fact of studying with joy removes all limits, makes all veils and obstacles disappear. Of course, the details of your conduct depend on many points, which you will therefore present to your teacher and to your spiritual guide. They will give you counsel and they will guide you, all the more so since, as your letter seems to indicate, they have already helped you in the past and their intervention was fruitful.

You surely have knowledge of the three fixed studies that pertain to the Chumash*, the Tehilim*, and the Tanya*. At the very least, you will adopt them from now on. With my blessing to study the Torah* with joy and inspiration, to fulfill the Mitzvos* in the same manner,

שלום וברכה! במענה למכתבו מז' מנ"א בו כותב ר"פ מאשר עבר עליו עד עתה, הזעזועים נפשיים והשינוים במצב רוחו וכו' ואשר בעזר השי"ת ע"י השתדלויות שונות דעתו עליו חזקה ולומד במכינת... ישיבה הק' מיסודם והנהלתם של רבותינו נשיאינו זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובודאי למותר להדגיש שיתחזק בבטחונו בבורא עולם ומנהיגו אשר כל מה דעביד רחמנא לטב עביד, ומתוך מנוחה אמיתית ובשמחה וטוב לבב ילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה ויהדר בקיום המצות. ובהנוגע לסכסוכים שמזכיר, הרי הדרך הטובה לא להכנס למריבות ח"ו ובסגנון חז"ל להיות שומעין ואינם משיבין, שזוהי דרך הסלולה להמעטת חיכוכים וסכסוכים, וכנ"ל. ונקודה האמיתית כי עצם הלימוד בשמחה פורץ גדרים ומבטל העלמות והסתרים, פרטי ההנהגה בזה כמובן שתלוים בכמה פרטים ופרטי פרטים, ולכן יפרש ענינו לפרטיו לפני המגיד שיעור והמשפיע שלו והם ייעצוהו ויורוהו, ובפרט שכנראה ממכתבו עזרו לו גם בעבר ועזרתם הביאה תועלת רבה.

בודאי יודע משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים, ועכ"פ ישמור עליהם מכאן ולהבא.
