I am responding to your letter, in which you tell me that you turned twelve years old — the age of the Bas Mitzvah* — on 15 Menachem Av*. May Hashem* grant that you receive, with a whole heart, the yoke of the divine Kingship and that of the Mitzvos*. May He grant you success in your study and in your conduct and may you grow to merit the title of a Chabad* young woman, in accordance with the will of our holy masters, whose merit protects us. In this matter, you will also influence your friends, through speech or, better still, by giving them the example of a Jewish young woman educated in the ways of Chassidus*. You will derive happiness from this, moral and physical.

You ask me where and how to continue your studies. The education of young people, particularly at your age, conditions the rest of one's life. On it depend autonomy and determination, the ability to overcome the tests that each person faces in the course of his or her existence. We live in a period of multiple changes and it is impossible to imagine today the way of life and the conditions of existence that there will be in a few years. One cannot therefore determine either the magnitude of the tests that will have to be endured in order not to stray from justice, from uprightness, from faith, and from religion.

As a result, each young person, in my opinion, must receive the most intensive religious education, in order to escape any danger that might arise, Heaven forbid. And if such a form of education imposes a lack of comfort for a certain period, this inconvenience will be insignificant compared to the protection, to the increased strength that one receives in this way for the entire rest of one's life.

הנה יהי רצון שתקבל עליך עול מלכות שמים ועול מצות בלבב שלם, והשם יתברך יצליחך בלימודך ובהנהגה, ותגדלי להיות ראוי' לשם בת חב"ד, מתאימה לרצון נשיאינו הקדושים זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ותשפיע גם על החבירות שלך בזה, בדבור ועוד יותר - על ידי היותך דוגמא חי' של בת ישראל המחונכת בדרכי החסידות. וזה יביא לך אושר רוחני וגשמי...

בשאלתך אודות מקום המשך לימודך ואופנו -

לדעתי, כיון שהחינוך של הנוער, ובפרט החינוך באותן השנים דגיל שלך - משפיע על כל משך ימי חייו, ובו תלוים העצמאות שלו והתוקף שלו, שיוכל לעמוד בנסיונות, שישנן בחייו של כל אחד ואחת,

כיון שנמצאים אנו בתקופה רבת השינוים, שאי אפשר לשער עתה כלל אופי ותנאי החיים לאחרי שנים אחדות, ולכן אין לדעת גם כן גודל הנסיונות אז שלא להכשל בעניני צדק ויושר, אמונה ודת,

- לכן צריך וחייב כל אחד ואחת מהנוער צ לקבל חינוך דתי במדה המקסימלית, בכדי שיוכל לעמוד בכל סכנה שלא תבוא, חס ושלום.

ואם אפילו חינוך באופן זה קשור יהי' באיזה אי נוחיות וכיוצא בזה, במשך תקופת זמן - במה נחשב זה לעומת החיסון ותוספת כח שמקבלים, על ידי חינוך זה דוקא, למשך כל ימי החיים.
