Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of this Sunday, in which you inform me of your wife's state of health and of the medical treatment she is undergoing. I await, from you, good news — of a visible and tangible good — of your communal achievements and of your personal concerns. Among Jews in general, among the Chassidim* and the students of the Yeshivah* in particular, the ones depend on the others. Therefore, it is surprising, very surprising, that you say nothing of the spreading of the wellsprings, so that they may reach the outside. No doubt you will supplement all of this at the next opportunity. There too, there will be good news, of a true good — "good for Heaven and good for the creatures" — as our Sages* explain.

We are approaching the month of Elul*, the month of mercy, when we say every day: "Hashem* is my Light and my Salvation." May Hashem* therefore grant that we very soon obtain the fulfillment of the allusion contained in this verse, as Rabbeinu Bechaye* explains, cited by the Tzemach Tzedek* in his commentary on the Tehilim*, at that reference — that is, the promise that the Third Temple would be rebuilt and that the Divine Presence would be revealed therein once again. It is in this regard that King David says: "Hashem* is my Light and my Salvation." With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

שלום וברכה! מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום א', בו כותב אודות מצב בריאות זוגתו תחי' והטפול הרפואי, ואחכה לבשו"ט מאתו, בטוב הנראה והנגלה הן בענינים הכללים והן בענינים הפרטים, ובבני ישראל בכלל ואנ"ש בפרט והתמימים ביחוד, הרי הא בהא תליא. שלכן פלא ופלא גדול - שאין מזכיר ע"ד הפצת היהדות ובפרט בהפצת המעינות (שיגיעו גם) חוצה, ובטח ימלא בהזדמנות הכי קרובה, וגם בזה תהיינה בשו"ט, טוב האמיתי טוב לשמים וטוב לבריות, וכדרשת רז"ל.

והרי מתקרבים אנו לחדש אלול הוא חדש הרחמים, בו כאו"א אומר בכל יום ה' אורי וישעי וגו', ויהי רצון שבעגלא דידן נזכה לקיום רמז כתוב זה, וכלשון הבחיי (הובא מכ"ק אדמו"ר הצ"צ בפירושו על התהלים שם) שעל הבטחה דבנין בית השלישי וחזרת השכינה, הוא שאמר דוד המלך ה' אורי וישעי.
