Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of the second day of Elul* and, at a propitious moment, I will mention your name at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us.

You inform me of what happens to you when you go to the house of certain people. One must carefully verify the Kashrus* of the foods served in that house. Likewise, you will adopt there, in particular toward the members of the family, the conduct that is commanded to us by our holy Torah*, whose Mitzvah* of general scope is: "You shall be holy, for I am holy." You will consult the commentary of the Ramban* on this verse, Vayikra* 19:2.

I am surprised that you do not tell me what your situation is regarding the study of our holy Torah* and the practice of its Mitzvos*. No doubt you will do so at the next opportunity. With my blessing to convey good news, to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

יש לבדוק ביותר בכשרות המאכלים אשר בבית ההוא, וכן לדייק שתהי' הנהגתו בבית זה ובעיקר עם בני הבית, כמצווה עלינו בתוה"ק, שמצוה הכללית היא קדושים תהיו כי קדוש אני, ועיין שם בפירוש הרמב"ן (ויקרא יט, ב).

לפלא שאינו מזכיר ע"ד מצבו בלימוד תורתנו הק' וקיום מצותי', ובטח ימלא עד"ז בהזדמנות הבאה.
