To the students of the Yeshivah* of Akko,

may Hashem* grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I received, in due time, the letter that you all delegated someone to write, in order to be mentioned for good and for blessing. No doubt you are aware of, and keep engraved in your mind, the following saying of our Sages*: "One who says he has made efforts without their being crowned with success — do not believe him." This means that everything depends solely on you. If you desire it, you will succeed in distinguishing yourselves in your study of the Torah*, Torah* of life, so that, above all, your life will conform to the teaching of this Torah* and study will therefore lead to action, to the practice of the Mitzvos* in the best manner, with an addition from time to time, in accordance with the Injunction that: "One ascends in matters of holiness."

I hope that the new school year will begin for you in this spirit. I will be happy to receive good news of your success in your studies and in your conduct. On the occasion of the new year that is approaching, for us and for all of Israel, for good and for blessing, I address my wishes to each of you, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. With my blessing to study the Torah* with fear of Hashem*,

שלום וברכה! בעתו נתקבל המכתב, כתוב בשליחותם בבקשה להזכירם לטובה ולברכה.

ובודאי ידוע לכם וחקוק בזכרונכם פתגם חכמינו ז"ל צ יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין, זאת אומרת שאין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונכם, שאם רק תרצו תצליחו לעשות חיל בלימוד התורה, תורת חיים, והעיקר שהלימוד יהי' באופן המתאים להוראת התורה, היינו תלמוד המביא לידי מעשה, קיום המצוות בהידור, ובהוספה בזה מזמן לזמן, שהרי נצטוינו ג"כ מעלין בקדש.

תקותי שהתחילו זמן הלימודים החדש בכיוון זה, וינעם לי לשמוע בשורות טובות מהצלחתם בלימודם ובהנהגתם.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני שולח ברכתי לכל אחד ואחד מכם, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
