Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 28 Tishrei*, in which you describe the situation of the school and, in particular, the question of the separation (note 1: Of boys and girls in the classes. See, on this subject, Letters no. 6177, 6596, 6929, and 6945), which you alone are advocating, and which is beyond your strength. To someone like you, it is surely unnecessary to explain at length that this opinion is also that of the One of the world. In accordance with the well-known saying (note 2: See, on this subject, Letters no. 5476 and 6543) of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, one must "live with the times," that is, with the Parshah*, as the Kuntres Bikur Chicago* and pamphlet no. 46 explain (note 3: Both by the Previous Rebbe*).

Now, the Parshah* of this week shows that "the deeds of the fathers are signs for the children." It is stated therein, indeed, that: "the whole earth had one language and the same words," as Rashi* underscores, to the point of arousing heavenly suspicion: "And now, they shall not be restrained." In the end, "Avraham was unique" and he inherited all the earth. As a saying of our masters underscores, it is certain that an effort is never in vain. May Hashem* therefore grant that it be so as quickly as possible, with minimal concealment and obscurity. Great is the merit of one who accomplishes all this one month, one week, one day earlier. במענה למכתבו מכ"ח תשרי, בו כותב ע"ד המצב בבית הספר ובפרט בבעיא של הפרדה, אשר דעתו דעת יחיד היא ואין לו בכחו וכו'

ובודאי למותר להאריך לדכוותי', שדעת האמורה היא גם דעת יחידו של עולם, וע"פ פתגם הידוע של כ"ק רבנו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, שצריכים לחיות מתאים עם הזמן (מ'דארף לעבען מיט דער צייט) הכוונה בחיות פרשת השבוע (נדפס בקונטרס בקור שיקאגא, קו' מ"ו) ומעשה אבות סימן לבנים בפרשת שבוע זו, ויהי כל הארץ שפה אחת ודברים אחדים וכמבואר בפירוש רש"י עד שחששו גם למעלה ועתה לא יבצר מהם, וסוף דבר הי' שאחד הי' אברהם, ויירש את הארץ גו', וידוע פתגם רבותינו נשיאינו חזקה לתעמולה שאינה חוזרת ריקם, ויהי רצון שיהי' זה בהקדם ובמינימום של העלמות והסתרים, ואשרי זכותו של כל אחד המקדים הענין לחדש אחד, שבוע ויום אחד.
