Igrot Kodesh · Letter 6543 — Faith & Bitachon
Volume 18 · Letter 40
By the grace of Hashem*,
8 MarCheshvan* 5719,
Brooklyn,
Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter of this Sunday and, at a propitious moment, I will mention all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, so that each one may obtain the satisfaction of his needs, in accordance with what you write. To someone like you, to your wife — since our Sages* say: "A wife is like one's own body" — as well as to the members of your family, it is surely unnecessary to explain at length what is the Divine Providence* that the Creator of the world, Who directs it, grants to every Jew. Hashem* is the Essence of good and "from the mouth of the Most High does not come..." (note 1: Evil). Indeed, on the contrary, "everything that Hashem* does is for the good."
It is sometimes difficult to discern and determine, with our eyes of flesh, with our physical intellect, that this is truly so, but this lack of awareness changes nothing in the reality. Moreover, it strengthens the pure faith with which every Jew is imbued, since all are designated as "believers, children of believers." Thus, in the words of the Alter Rebbe*, at the end of chapter 11 of Iggeres HaKodesh*, "all becomes truly good, even in an evident manner." One point is, in this instance, timely. It concerns the saying of the Alter Rebbe* (note 2: See, on this subject, Letter no. 6537) according to which "one must live with the times," that is, with the Parshah* of the week, which is, this time, connected to our father Avraham, who is also the father of all believers. He himself bequeathed this faith as an inheritance to all the children of Israel, until the end of the generations, as various texts establish. Moreover, it is explained that the more one strengthens one's trust in Hashem*, in all the points just addressed, the more one multiplies His blessings in all one's needs in general, so that one may have the merit of seeing the good with one's own eyes in particular. With my blessing to convey good news,
