To the young Yehoshua Moshe Yosef (note 1: Halpern, of Kfar Chabad*) and to the entire family, may Hashem* grant you long life,
I am responding to your letter of Rosh Chodesh* Kislev*. I took note, with dread, of the terrible misfortune that was the passing of the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of many accomplishments and carrying out a sacred mission, Rav Israel Yitzchak Zelig (note 2: Father of the recipient of this letter), may he rest in peace. May Hashem* grant that in the future, you know sorrow no more, which Hashem* forbid, but only good and kindness, a good that is visible and tangible, always and every day.
The consolation also includes the repair of the past, which must even be double (note 3: In this case, the sorrow must therefore be transformed into a double joy). May Hashem* therefore grant that this be indeed the case — that good and delight multiply, which means, in this matter, far more than double, quantitatively, as various texts establish. I read with pleasure in your letter that you teach at the Yeshiva* of Kfar Chabad*, there where Hashem* has commanded the blessing. May Hashem* grant that you devote yourself to this with much self-sacrifice and dedication. This will be a source of satisfaction and the greatest merit for the soul of the departed. Without a doubt, you will draw from this an increased blessing and success in everything that concerns you and the entire family in general. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

נבהלתי להשמועה מאיזה ימים ע"ד האסון נורא שקרה להם בפטירת הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ בעל מדות ורב פעלים מלאכתו מלאכת שמים מו"ה ישראל יצחק זעליג ע"ה.
ויהי רצון אשר מכאן ולהבא לא ידעו עוד מכל עגמ"נ ח"ו, ואך טוב וחסד בטוב הנראה והנגלה ימצאום תכה"י.
וכיון שבנחמות נכללו עניני תקון על העבר, הסדר בזה שצ"ל בכפלים, הנה יהי רצון שיהי' זה גם בנדון שלהם, ויתרבו הענינים של טוב וענג הלוך והוסיף (וכמבואר במ"א אשר ענין הכפלים בהנ"ל הוא בהרבה יותר מכפלים בכמות).
נעם לי לקרות במכתבו ע"ד עבודתו בהוראה בהישיבה אשר בכפר חב"ד, אשר שם צוה ה' את הברכה, ויהי רצון אשר יתעסק בזה במסירה ונתינה הכי גדולה אשר גם עי"ז נחת רוח וזכות הכי גדול לנשמתו של הנפטר, ובודאי שישמש זה לתוספת ברכה והצלחה בכל עניניו ובעניני המשפחה בכלל.
