To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav Meir Shachna (note 1: Rav M. Sh. Frankel, of Wellington),

Greetings and blessings,

My secretariat has conveyed to me the content of your letter and of your activity in the domain of family purity within your city. I have also learned that you are descended from an illustrious family, the Reich family of Warsaw, and that your grandfather was the brother of the Chassid*, Rav Meshulam Reich, may he rest in peace. May Hashem* grant that your origin bring you the vigor and the enthusiasm that lie at the depth of the soul of every Jew, so that they exert their effect in everything concerning Judaism, the Torah* and the Mitzvos* in general, in their dissemination around you, everywhere your influence reaches, in particular.

In our era, indeed, each person has the sacred obligation to spread the Torah* and the Mitzvos* in his surroundings, so that concrete action results from it. For such is the mission of man, as it is said: "Fear Hashem* and keep His Mitzvos* (note 2: For such is the purpose of man)." And our Sages* give the assurance that: "if one makes efforts, they will be crowned with success," especially since you find yourself in a place where, from what is said, there are for now few people who fear Hashem* and conform to His word. The importance of each person is thereby increased all the more. And it is certain that Hashem*, Who creates the world and directs it, grants the means and the possibilities to assume this important mission. You are descended from a Chassidic* family, related to our masters and leaders. I therefore have great hope that you have a fixed time for the study of Chassidus*, in addition to the time you devote to the study of the revealed part of the Torah*. I send you my blessing to convey good news of all this, and you will convey my greetings to all your friends who share with you this sacred mission of strengthening the pillar of purity in your city. For one Mitzvah* draws another in its wake, as is the case for all the Mitzvos* of our holy Torah*.

המזכירות שלי מסרו לי תוכן מכתבו ועסקנותו בעניני טהרת המשפחה במחנם הט' וכן שגזעו ממשפחה המפו;63637#&ארה, רייך מווארשא, וזקנו הי' אחיו של הרה"ח כו' משולם רייך ע"ה.

ויהי רצון אשר צור מחצבתו יוסיף בו חיות והתלהבות אשר בנפש פנימה של כל אחד ואחד [מ]ישראל באופן שיפעלו פעולתם בעניני יהדות תורה ומצות בכלל ובהפצתם בהסביבה בכל מקום שידו מגעת ביחוד, שהרי בתקופתנו חובתו הק' של כל אחד ואחד להפיץ תורה ומצות בכל הסביבה, באופן המביא לידי מעשה בפועל, והרי זה כל האדם (וכמ"ש) את האלקים ירא ואת מצותיו שמור, והובטחנו מחז"ל יגעת ומצאת, ובפרט שנמצא במקום אשר ע"פ השמועה, לע"ע לא רבים שם יראי ה' והחרדים לדבר ה', שזה מגדיל ערכו של כאו"א, ובודאי שהקב"ה בורא עולם ומנהיגו, נותן היכולת והאפשריות למלאות תפקיד הגדול הזה.

מאחר שגזעו ממשפחת חסידים ומחותן דמשפחות רבותינו נשיאינו תקותי שיש לו קביעות עתים בלימוד תורת החסידות נוסף על הקביעות עתים בלימוד תורת הנגלה.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור, ובפ"ש כל חבריו שי' בעבודה הק' חיזוק עמוד הטהרה במחנם, ומצוה גוררת מצוה בכל עניני מצות תורתנו הק',
