Greetings and blessings,
You make reference to the phrase: "The Mishnah* (note 2: The first Mishnah* of the third chapter of tractate Bava Kamma* 27a. The Gemara* immediately questions this change of term), in its beginning, speaks of a jug and, in its conclusion, of a barrel." You will consult, in this regard, the end of the Or HaTorah* of the Maggid of Mezeritch*, cataloguing the allusions to the Torah* found in the Midrashim* of our Sages*. You will also see the introduction of the Tikkunei Zohar*, at page 14a, which says: "The jug corresponds to the lower aspect of the Shechinah*." And the Zohar*, volume 3, at page 245b, says that the barrel evokes its upper aspect.
Thus, one and the other correspond to Malchus* — the Attribute of Royalty — and to Binah* — the Attribute of reasoned analysis. You will also see the Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe*, at the beginning of Shir HaShirim*. But this point will not be developed here.
