Greetings and blessings,

You inform me of your birthday, and here is my response. You will surely adopt the customs recently introduced by the Chassidim* on this occasion. May Hashem* grant that you have a year of success in the study of the Torah* and in the practice of the Mitzvos*. With my blessing to study the Torah* with fear of Hashem*.

You contemplate reducing your study of the revealed part of the Torah* (note 1: In order to intensify the study of Chassidus*) relative to the program of the Yeshiva* (note 2: Of which the recipient of this letter is a student). It is quite evident that you must not do so. You will therefore study Chassidus* when you have free time (note 3: Relative to the organization of the Yeshiva*). In this way, you will know success in the revealed part of the Torah* and in Chassidus*.
