To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav Chaim Yosef (note 1: Rav Ch. Y. Schneider) and his wife, Madame Ita Rachel,

Greetings and blessings,

I received news of you, with pleasure, through the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, devotes himself to communal needs and is full of eagerness, Rav Aryeh Leib Kremer (note 2: Director of the Lubavitch Yeshiva* of Montreal). Indeed, you have had a new Sefer Torah* written and you have donated it to the Yeshiva* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Montreal. It is unnecessary to emphasize the importance and the sanctity inherent in the Mitzvah* of having a Sefer Torah* written and especially of placing it in a location where its value will be appreciated.

For the Sefer Torah* is the most precious object that the Jews possess. Likewise, the Yeshiva* Tomchei Temimim* trains students who will appreciate the sanctity of the Torah*, of the One Who gives it, and of the holy people, who will be able to imbue themselves with the love of Hashem*, the love of the Torah*, and the love of Israel, in their daily lives. The merit of this holy Mitzvah* will protect you, for "one Mitzvah* draws another in its wake," in ever-increasing proportion. You and yours will draw from it the blessings of Hashem* in an ever-wider manner, as the Chanukah* candles show — lit in increasing numbers in order to reveal ever more light emanating from the Torah* and the Mitzvos* in the Jewish home and in its surroundings. שמחתי לקבל פ״ש ע״י הרה״ח וו״ח אי״א נו״מ עוסק בצ״צ בעל

מרץ וכו׳ מוה״ר ארי׳ ליב שי׳ קרמר ,שאפשרתם לכתוב ספר-תורה חדש

והכנסתם אותו לישיבת ״תומכי־תמימים״ ליובאוויטש במונטריאול.

מיותר להדגיש את החשיבות והקדושה של מצות כתיבת ספר-

תורה ,בפרט הכנסתו למקום בו יודעים איך להעריך קדושה של ספר־

תורה ,שהוא הדבר הקדוש ביותר שיש לבני ישראל .זהו הרי התוכן של

ישיבת תומכי-תמימים -להעמיד תלמידים שידעו כיצד להעריך את

הקדושה של התורה ושל נותן התורה ושל העם הקדוש ,ולאחד בתוכם

את אהבת השם ,אהבת התורה ,ואהבת ישראל בחיי היום יום.

זכות המצוה הקדושה תעמוד להם ,שמצוה גוררת מצוה ,מצוה

אחת תביא שני׳ ובאופן דמוסיף והולך ,וזה יביא להם ולכל אשר להם

את ברכות הקב״ה באופן דמוסיף והולך ,כפי שהדבר מרומז בנרות

חנוכה ,שמדליקים באופן של מוסיף והולך ,להחדיר יותר ויותר אור של

תורה ומצוות בבית היהודי ובסביבתו.
