To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of multiple accomplishments, devoted to communal needs, Rav Naftali (note 1: Rav N. Kraus, of Tel Aviv. See, on his subject, Letter no. 6075),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 3 Teves*. I am surprised that you do not confirm having received mine, which responded to your previous letter. You are once again considering the organization of an outing (note 2: For children) during Chol HaMoed* Pesach*, which is approaching. According to your plan, it is to last two days and you hope that it will facilitate the distribution of the Conversations with the Young (note 3: A Lubavitch publication intended for youth) and, more generally, of your activities. Now, in my view, an outing during Pesach* raises many difficulties, on account of the more stringent practices of this festival. As you hope, many young people will participate and it will therefore be all the more difficult to organize, especially during a Shemittah* year. Consequently, if you decide that such an outing must once again be considered, it would be good not to schedule it during Pesach*.

On the question itself, you surely have the assessment of the previous outing or, at least, will you establish it now. You will communicate it to me and it will then be possible to formulate an opinion on the matter. You also mention the Conversations with the Young and it seems to me that a letter was addressed to you on this subject by the Merkaz Le'Inyanei Chinuch*.

Happy is your lot, since you direct this activity which, without a doubt, draws the hearts of many Jews closer to our Father Who is in heaven, to His Torah* and His Mitzvos*. There are no words to explain its importance, especially according to the saying of the Alter Rebbe*, according to which 'Love your fellow as yourself' is the vessel for 'You shall love Hashem* your Elokim*.' Now, this love of Hashem* is the foundation of all the Mitzvos*, since it is the origin of the two hundred and forty-eight Injunctions of the Torah*, among which is found the fear of Hashem*, the source of the three hundred and sixty-five Prohibitions. I reiterate my blessing that you and your wife raise your daughter to Torah*, to the marriage canopy, and to good deeds, in good health and knowing abundance in all domains. במענה למכתבו מג' טבת, ולפלא שאינו מזכיר מקבלת מכתבי מענה על מכתבי הקודם.

בו כותב אודות ארגון טיול עוה"פ בחוה"פ הבע"ל שע"פ התכנית יארך כיומים, אבל מקוה שזה יסייע להפצת השיחות לנוער וכן הפצת הענין בכלל.

והנה בכלל לדעתי טיול בימי הפסח, קשור בקישוים ביותר, מפני ההידורים דעניני הפסח, וכיון שכתקותו ישתתף בזה מספר גדול של נוער, ה"ז עוד מקשה על האמור, ובפרט בשנת השמיטה שלכן באם יוחלט לסדר עוה"פ טיול, יש להתענין שיהי' לא בימי הפסח.

בעצם השאלה, הנה בטח ישנו כבר סיכומים מתוצאות הטיול הקודם או עכ"פ צריך לעשות סיכום זה, ובטח יודיעוני ואז יהי' מקום לחוות דיעה בזה.

במ"ש אודות השיחות לנוער, כמדומה כבר נשלח לו בזה מכתב מהמל"ח.

ואשרי חלקו שעומד בראש מפעל זה, אשר בלי ספק מביא לקירוב לבם של כו"כ מבנ"י לאבינו שבשמים לתורתו ולמצותיו, וגודל הענין אין די באר, ובפרט ע"פ פתגם רבנו הזקן אשר ואהבת לרעך כמוך הוא כלי לואהבת את ה' אלקיך [שאהבת השם הרי היא יסוד ושרש לכל המצות, שהרי האהבה היא יסוד ושרש לכל רמ"ח מ"ע שבהן גם מצות יראת ה' יסוד ושרש לשס"ה מל"ת].

ואכפול ברכתי שהוא וזוגתו תחי' יגדלו את בתם תחי' לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים מתוך בריאות הנכונה והרחבה בכל עניניהם.
