To the Rav*, the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of multiple accomplishments, Rav Tuvya (note 1: Rav T. Blau, of Jerusalem. See, on his subject, Letters no. 5986 and 6856),

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of 1 Teves*. At a propitious moment, I will mention all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, so that each of them obtain the fulfillment of their needs, in accordance with what you write me. In all of this, you will be protected by the merit of your activity in spreading the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) to the outside. In fact, it is explained elsewhere that this 'outside' begins when one leaves the attributes of the intellect, the comprehension proper (note 3: In order to give rise to feeling). Then, subsequently, one proceeds from one stage to the next, until reaching the outside in the most literal sense.

Happy is your lot, since your outside consists of Yeshivah* students. Simultaneously, your responsibility is thereby increased all the more, for by exerting upon them the appropriate influence, you can ensure that each of them be 'moist to the point of moistening others' — that is, that he exert, in due course, an influence upon his surroundings. You will consult, on this subject, the Tosefta*, at the end of the third chapter of tractate Eduyos*, which speaks of the disciples of disciples. All of this is self-evident. May Hashem* grant that you accomplish these actions in joy and enthusiasm, so that 'you shall spread forth to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south,' until obtaining 'an inheritance without limit' (note 4: According to the terms of the promise made to Yaakov*). With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

ותעמוד לו בכהנ"ל זכות התעסקותו בהפצת המעינות חוצה, וכמבואר במ"א אשר החוצה מתחיל למטה מחו"ב [דמוחין כשהן לעצמו] וכן מדרגא לדרגא עד חוצה במובן הכי פשוט, ואשרי חלקו אשר החוצה שלו, הם אברכי ישיבה, אבל לאידך גיסא זהו מוסיף בהאחריות, שהרי בהשפעה מתאימה עליהם יש לעשות מכאו"א טופח ע"מ להטפיח ולמשפיע בסביבתו במשך הזמן. ועיין תוספתא עדיות ספ"ג בגודל ענין דתלמידי תלמידיו, וק"ל. ויהי רצון שיתעסק בכל האמור מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב ובאופן דופרצת ימה וקדמה וצפונה ונגבה ועד לנחלה בלי מצרים.
