To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of many accomplishments, Rav Gershon Mendel (note 1: Rav G. M. Garelik, of Milan. See, on his subject, Letter no. 6614) and his wife, the Rebbetzin*,

Greetings and blessings,

I have received your letter of 19 Teves*, which reached me with much delay. In the meantime, you have surely received mine, which responded to your previous letters. Of course, you were right to intervene in a peaceful and pleasant manner, not to give the impression that you are "walking over someone's head." In fact, it is practically certain that such an attitude will convince those who respect you, so that they come to your aid and participate in your activity. Naturally, this applies to the men as well as to the active women of your city. This is self-evident.

You are no doubt making the appropriate preparations for the approaching day of the Hilloula* (note 2: Of the Previous Rebbe*, on 10 Shevat*). I enclose an extract of my letter addressed to the annual celebration of the Yeshivos* Tomchei Temimim* here (note 3: This is Letter no. 6669). You will surely be able to use its content for your sacred mission. Of course, one should retain only the content of this extract (note 4: Without taking the words literally). On the other hand, you will not make a fundraising appeal. This is quite evident. With my blessing to convey good news of all this, in an ever-increasing manner,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום י"ט טבת - שנתקבל באיחור זמן רב, ובטח בינתים קבל מכתבי מענה על מכתביו הקודמים.

ומובן וגם פשוט, שטוב עושים שהולכים בדרכי שלום ונועם וכן נזהרים שלא יהי' הרושם, שהולכים "מעל לראש" של מי שהוא, ובפרט שקרוב לודאי שהנהגתם זו תפעול על אלו שחוששים מפניהם - שיעשו למסייעים ומשתתפים בעבודתם הם. ומובן שהדברים האמורים הוא בהנוגע להאנשים וכן להנשים עסקניות שבמחנם הט', וק"ל.

בודאי עושים הכנות ליום ההילולא הבע"ל, ומוסגר בזה העתק קטע מכתבי לחגיגה השנתית של הישיבה תו"ת דכאן, שבטח יוכלו לנצל תוכנו בעבודתו בקדש, ומובן שהכוונה בהקטע, הוא רק להתוכן - אבל אין לערב עניני אפילס וכו' ופשוט.
