By the grace of Hashem*,

Blessings and greetings,

I am responding to your letter regarding your birthday. On this occasion, you surely set aside Tzedakah*, from your own money, before the morning prayer and before Minchah*. And if you did not do so on that day, you will set some aside close to the date of receipt of the present letter. Likewise, you had an additional study, beyond the program of the Yeshivah*, the one you desire.

It is also necessary to ask that you be taught the holy Tanya* on this day, and you will make good resolutions for your conduct during the coming year, as you prepare to become a man, subject to the yoke of the Torah* and to that of the Mitzvos*. May Hashem* grant that you succeed in all of this and that you convey good news of it to me. With my blessing,

במענה למכתבו אודות יום ההולדת שלו.

בודאי הפריש אז (או אם לא עשה זה ביום ההולדת יעשה זה סמוך ליום קבלת מכתבי זה) לצדקה לפני תפלת הבקר והמנחה, מכספו הוא וכן למד שיעור נוסף על סדרי לימוד הישיבה במקום שלבו חפץ, וכן יבקש שילמדו עמדו באותו היום כנ"ל בספר תניא קדישא, ויקבל החלטות טובות בנוגע להנהגתו כל השנה הבאה היא שנת היותו מופלא לאיש וסיומה והחותם שלה - הגעתו לעול תורה ולעול מצות, ויהי רצון שיצליח בכל האמור ויבשר טוב בזה.
